How to care for the oxycardium plant



The Oxycardium plant is also known as heartleaf philodendron because of its heart-shaped leaves. It is the most popular house plant and very easy to care for. It requires moderate temperature and partial shade. Philodendrons can survive outdoors also in tropical regions, although it is most popular as a houseplant.

Oxycardium plant need bright filtered, indirect sunlight, although it can thrive medium to low light also. That is why it is considered an excellent houseplant. A moist environment is suitable for oxycardium but keep 'the soil' moist, not soggy. If plant' leaves remain in excess water for a long time or become very dry, it can also create problems. 


Choose a pot that has a good drainage system. It requires good watering in the growing season. Wipe its leaves with a damp cloth regularly. You can place it near the kitchen and bathroom to provide humidity.

Since this plant is toxic, its sap can create skin irritation. It also can cause discomfort if consumed. You can plant it in a hanging basket to enhance its beauty. 


Propagation of the philodendron tree is very easy. Vegetative propagation is suitable for this plant by cutting leaf buds or stem tips. Place the cuttings in moist soil and keep them in a warm environment. If the plant gets infected with fungus, bacteria, and viruses, it can cause root rotting and leaf spots. 


However, insects are not very harmful to the heartleaf philodendron. Use a well-balanced fertilizer in one or two months for oxycardium green plants. Water-soluble fertilizers are a good choice for this plant. It will give you signals that it needs. You will have to recognize it. If you are not a green thumb or not well versed in gardening, you can also grow philodendron plants. 


It can adapt to indoor conditions easily, they can thrive indoors for the whole year, but you can keep them outdoors in shady spots so that they can flourish well. Clean its leaves and provide plenty of water when you put it outdoors. As it requires Bright in direct sunlight, you can place it near a window where sun rays do not directly touch the foliage.

The leaves of this plant are similar to pothos plants. So don't be confused. The stems of philodendron are not grooved like pothos. Pothos are sold in hanging baskets and require brighter light. Philodendron is a native of the tropical rainforest of South Brazil. Its exotic flora will provide you with an experience of a hot and steamy forest.


Due to easy growth and low maintenance make it an ideal house plant. Philodendron is noted to be epiphyte but Hemi epiphyte. it is a soil-grown plant, its glossy green leaves are leathery in texture and can grow 18 inches to 3 feet. In his ideal climates, it can reproduce In 12 to 15 years, but it cannot reproduce in hot and dry climates.


It reproduces tiny round green fruit. This plant requires humus-rich, moist soil. Take a container a few inches larger than the root ball, not too big. Its thick trunk needs the support of stouts. Oxycardium plants big leaves require occasional dusting and also remove the dead plant material regularly. Keep the soil moist but decrease watering in winter. 


Reporting is also necessary for a philodendron plant so that it can energies within new soil but don't increase the size of the container every time because it thrives best in tight containers. If your philodendron produces a flower, then you can consider yourself lucky enough. It can control its temperature and can bear a 45-degree Celsius temperature for two days.
