Philodendrons are adaptable in any environment and are low in maintenance. Many species of Philodendron are available easily and very hard to resist due to their exciting foliage. There are two main types of philodendron plants: vining plants and self-heading plants. Vining plants are perfect for hanging baskets and can be grown on support, while self-heading plants are grown around bushy mounds.

Environment

Temperature between 62 to 83 is suitable for philodendrons. They are comfortable at the same room temperatures as their growers. They can tolerate dry conditions inside homes. Direct light and dim corners are not suitable for this plant. Bright filtered light through a curtain is best near a window.


Response

Philodendrons respond when you care for them. If you are new or inexperienced in gardening and don't know how to care for plants, then Philodendron is a good choice for you. It is effortless to grow for beginners. 


Dropping leaves are the sign of underwatering, and when you provide the right amount of water, it responds. When you repot a plant, then it takes some time to adjust. Philodendron will give you a response within a few days.

Many houseplants start dropping leaves, turning yellow, or developing spots when moving them from place to place. Philodendron adapts these changes easily so you can move them without worrying about gradually increasing the light. When you move the plants outdoors, they can attract some insects. Wipe them off with water when you bring the plants back indoors.


Easy to maintain

Philodendron needs the same care throughout the year, unlike other house plants. The soil should be slightly moist and use liquid fertilizer of half-strength once a month. Repot the plant in the spring season.

How to care

Philodendrons like partial sun exposure. Provide bright and indirect light for the best color on variegated leaves. Philodendron plants need a warm, humid environment as it is a tropical plant. Place the plant in a warm spot, or you can use a humidifier to provide moisture. To mist, the plant is also helpful. A moderate amount of water and well-drained soil is perfect for philodendrons. Dropping leaves indicate that plants are overwatering or underwater.


Philodendron Hope Selloum

The sculptural and eye-catching leaves of Philodendron Hope Selloum make it quite popular. Provide bright indirect light and moist soil to thrive it. Avoid overwatering but keep the soil moist If the plant starts to grow towards the sun, rotate the pot every few days.


Heartleaf Philodendron

It is also one of the easiest house plants to grow and can adapt to various light conditions. It forgives in nature and is a fast-growing plant. The heart-shaped leaves emerge bronze in starting and turn into glossy green quickly. The leaves are generally 2- 3 inches wide and can grow up to 8 inches wide. It can reach 4 to 5 ft indoors and is a perfect and beautiful plant for hanging baskets.


Philodendron Imperial red and green

They have bright red leaves, but when they mature, they turn burgundy to red-purple and at last dark glossy green when fully grown. It is known for its smooth glossy green leaves with attractive foliage. Provide medium to bright indirect sunlight, although they can tolerate low light surroundings.


Philodendron Brasil

The heart-shaped leaves of Philodendron Brazil are available in different shades of green and yellow. It resembles the Brazilian flag. It can survive in low light conditions, but medium to bright and dark light is perfect for showing its variegation in the best way. If it doesn't get proper sunlight, then it can lose its variegation.
